What to do after you say YES!
He asked the question, and you said YES! Now what? Here is a list of things to do once you’re newly engaged.

ENJOY THE MOMENT
Yep, that’s right. Make sure you take the time to enjoy the moment. Try not to let the impending wedding overshadow what just happened. Your proposal will be a memory you remember for a lifetime. So don’t rush through it. Stare at your ring, you know you want too. Take all the ring selfies (just don’t post them yet!). Sit back and enjoy your new fiance. AHHH, you have a fiance now!
TELL YOUR INNER CIRCLE
Your family and closest friends will want to find out you’re engaged from you, not social media. So keep on holding onto that ring selfie. Write down everyone you need to tell, and either visit or call everyone on that list. Once everyone is notified, go ahead and change your social status to engaged and post that ring picture!
Also, think about indulging yourself and getting a professional manicure. Everyone is going to be grabbing your hand to see that ring!
INSURE & SIZE THE RING
I know you just got that ring and you don’t want to part with it. But, if your ring slips off in the ocean, sheds a diamond or two, or ends up in the dumpster, you will be ever-so-thankful you took the time to get that precious stone sized and insured. It may take a few hours or a few days, either way, it needs to be a priority.
SET A DATE (even if it’s not THE date)
After “Yay,” “Congratulations” and “Let me see your ring” comes the first thing people will ask: “Have you set a date yet?” You may already know the exact date you want to get married, but most likely not. But, if you and your fiance go ahead and discuss and come up with a specific-yet-vague answer like “We really like the idea of next Spring,” or “We are aiming for Fall 2017.” Not only does this give you both a direction to head in when you start tackling all the details, but it also makes everyone feel in the loop.
TALK GUEST LIST & BUDGET
It’s not the most exciting part of the planning process, but it’s an essential place to start. Without a tentative guest list and a ballpark of your budget, you can’t book the right venue or the vendors that are in your price point.
CONSIDER HIRING A WEDDING COORDINATORâ¦Seriously, Consider it
Decide whether you want a wedding coordinator or would you rather handle it on your own. If you do want to go the coordinator route, decide whether you want help planning all the details, tip-to-tail, or just someone to help your special day run smooth. Either is great to have, and I would consider a necessity. Figure out what is in your budget and pull the trigger.
The advice I have regarding when to hire a wedding coordinator is, to hire her BEFORE you choose and book a venue. The coordinator may be able to show you a site that would be a better fit than the one you chose before you hired her. Hiring a coordinator will ultimately ensure everything runs as smoothly and flawlessly as possible, and it enables you to enjoy just being a bride.
Daydream, a LOT. Talk with your fiancÃ© about what kind of vision you each have for the big day. Create a SECRET Pinterest board (if you don’t already have one ;)) and add your coordinator to it. Get a bunch of bridal magazines, watch a bridal flick or two (Father of the Bride is a good tear-jerker, or if you want a good laugh Bride Wars or Bridesmaids). If you haven’t been planning your dream wedding since you were a little girl, that’s okay. Now is the perfect to collect ideas that inspire you both, and figure out what you like and what you DON’T like or don’t want in your wedding.
And Lastly… CELEBRATE!
Go out for dinner to a nice restaurant and pop a bottle of champagne. Or allow your closest friends or family to throw you an engagement party. Celebrate and be in the moment. It passes by fast, so make sure to embrace and enjoy it!
